Being a CEO coach can mean a lot of things. Some coaches are mentors, while others are more like therapists. Some have never worked a day in business, while others have led successful companies. So, what kind of coach am I?
Different Coaching Styles
- Strategic Coaches: Some coaches swear by tried-and-true systems.
- Mental Wellness Coaches: Others dive deep into mental wellness and employ the Socratic method.
But me? I’m all about helping other CEOs solve real problems. I draw from my own journey—starting in my garage, making mistakes (lots of them), and learning how to avoid them.
My Experience
I've been through the wringer with:
- Hiring and Firing: Navigating the tricky waters of building a team.
- Supply Chains: Expanding into seven new warehouses as my business grew.
- Sales: Experiencing the highs and lows of selling to big retailers like Home Depot, Walmart, and of course, Amazon.
When it comes to running a small or medium-sized business, there are a few common challenges where CEO/Founders often need a helping hand. Here’s a quick rundown:
- Building a Brand: This is crucial, and your therapist likely can't help here!
- HR and People Issues: Navigating the complexities of hiring, managing, and sometimes firing.
- Setting Company Goals: Getting everyone on board with the vision.
- Product Development: This is where your magic needs to shine.
- Systems Management: You can't sell effectively if you struggle with accounts receivable or producing reliable financials on time.
Many businesses start because they have a great product, but they often hit a plateau at a certain revenue level. The culprit? Often a blind spot in these areas. I genuinely enjoy—no, I LOVE—problem-solving in these domains.
The Ultimate Goal
But here’s the kicker: every business owner needs to answer this crucial question, "How do I want to exit my business?"
- Do you have someone to pass your company on to?
- If not, you need to be ready to sell at some point.
For me, that's the ultimate goal. You started your business to serve customers successfully, and the best way to prove that value is by attracting eager investors.
My Focus
I’m focused on tangible results, and I’m all about having fun while doing it. Carpe Diem!
